Hey everyone, I hope I’ve got the right group here! I just bought this awesome 1981 MB T2 608D Polish fire truck from a guy in Maine and drove it back here to Utah. It’s in great shape with only 12k miles on it’s OM314 motor when I bought it last month, but I’ve been doing some maintenance and minor repairs to it.
One thing I haven’t been able to figure out yet is why it often smells like exhaust inside. I had the tailpipe & muffler replaced from about 2 feet behind the manifold all the way to the rear, and they inspected the manifold for leaks and found none.
It mainly smells when I roll down my window. Wondering if it’s sucking it in from somewhere? I’ve plugged up all the holes in the wooden floor I can find, and foam-sealed the edges of the floor for now (new floor won’t happen until next year).
If any of you have experienced exhaust smells in the cabin and have remedied it, I’d love to hear how you did it!
